    The Good Hike 2012

The Good Hike 2012 - Where it all began

On Labor Day weekend in 2012, 5 friends set out to hike across the Grand Canyon in an effort to hike for Hunger Relief.

Our hike started on the N Rim of the Grand Canyon and it was super chilly on the N Rim. It was hard for us to wrap our heads around how hot it was going to be in the canyon when the temps on the N Rim were in the 40s the night before we set out. Once we got going though, it warmed up quickly!

We took three days to cross the canyon which allowed us to add in extra day hikes while inside the canyon. I would recommend this for sure! There are some beautiful spots in the canyon and many of them you will have all to yourself!

Our three days in the canyon were exceptional! It was during the rainy season so there was a nice cloud coverage most of the time. The Colorado River looked more like the Muddy Mississippi but it was a nice trade off to have the cooler temps! We never ran into a major storm (which can be a big problem during that time of year). We had time to explore with our packs off! Bonus!

The most exceptional part of our hike was the fact that we were able to raise just under $10,000 for Hunger Relief in America!
